The last new word parts arrive: the prefixes "fore-", "super-", "semi-" and "en-" or "em-", and the endings "-ant", "-ent", "-ate" and "-ism" — "assistant", "different", "celebrate", "tourism". Your child uses word families to settle an unclear vowel ("define" tells you how to spell "definition") and reads long words with the right stress. This matches what's covered in Grade 4 classrooms across Ontario.
