Play Year 5 words

Opens Fredle.

Silent letters — "doubt", "island", "lamb", "knight" — and rare spellings like "yacht" and "queue" are covered this year. Your child also starts learning word roots and how they build related words — "graph", "tele-", "auto-" — as in "telegraph" and "automatic", alongside endings "-able" and "-ible". This is standard Year 5 spelling teaching in England.

Checked against the National Curriculum in England, published by the Department for Education.

Games that match Year 5

Opening a game from this page sets the school year to Year 5, and every game then keeps the words at that level — so a Year 5 child gets Year 5 words, not a guess. The school year is a tap away inside the game, so a child moving up a year, or a younger sibling taking a turn, changes it in seconds.
