Opens Fredle.

Your child learns 8 silent letters — the "e" in "cake", "b" in "comb", "k" in "knock", "gh" in "high", "w" in "wrap", "t" in "often", "l" in "walk" and "g" in "gnaw" — and starts spelling longer words by their parts: the root word, and what a prefix like "re-" or a suffix like "-ness" ("happiness") does to it. Using a dictionary begins this year. This matches what's covered in Primary 3 classrooms across Singapore.

Checked against the English Language Syllabus, published by Singapore's Ministry of Education. How the words are chosen.

Games that match Primary 3

Opening a game from this page sets the school year to Primary 3, and every game then keeps the words at that level — so a Primary 3 child gets Primary 3 words, not a guess. The school year is a tap away inside the game, so a child moving up a year, or a younger sibling taking a turn, changes it in seconds.

Same ages in the UK: Year 4 (ages 8–9).
