Play Grade 1 words

Opens Fredle.

Your child learns the silent "e" in "cake", the vowel pairs — "ai" and "ay", "ee" and "ea", "oa" and "ow", "igh", "oo", "ew" — "ar", "or" and "er", "oi" and "ou", and the silent letters in "knee", "write" and "lamb". Spelling rules arrive too: "-ck", "-tch" and "-dge". Word-building starts with "un-", "re-" and "dis-". This matches what is covered in Grade 1 classrooms across Ontario.

Games that match Grade 1

Opening a game from this page sets the school year to Grade 1, and every game then keeps the words at that level — so a Grade 1 child gets Grade 1 words, not a guess. The school year is a tap away inside the game, so a child moving up a year, or a younger sibling taking a turn, changes it in seconds.
